Carts in Sangalkam

This morning, Philippe & I were a part of a ceremony in the village of Sangalkam, where MIS and Sport Life & Blooming partnered to give away 15 hand-propelled carts to those in need.  The 15 recipients were chosen based on the severity of their physical impairment.  It was such a privilege to be a part of this and to see the shy smiles of joy on the faces of those who received a cart because it will no doubt bring a level of independence they each haven't been able to experience in a long time.

Day in Mbodiene

On Sunday, Philippe went to the village of Mbodiene at the request of Pastor Jokel to lead some games & a soccer tournament with the kids there...

he's the 1st person in Mbodiene to come to Christ & has now made it his life's work to share the love of Jesus with his people there...

SIM Camp at Ngaparou

Philippe & I spent this past week at the beach.  It wasn't exactly a vacation though...instead we were a part of the annual kids Bible camp that SIM missionaries living & working in Kaffrine organize for a number of children from that area.  About 50 kids were bused from the inland village of Kaffrine to the coastal village of Ngaparou, which takes roughly about 4 hours, to attend this 4 day camp.  The SIM workers invited Philippe & I to join them by helping with the games & Philippe actually got to teach one of the Bible lessons.  And I got to practice my Wolof since communication throughout the entire duration of the camp was in Wolof!   

 

We had a great time - it actually reminded me of the junior high retreats I went on with kids from CFC when I was helping in the middle school ministry.  So of course by the end of the week, we were both pretty exhausted, but it was such a privilege to be able to witness what God is doing in the lives of the children in Kaffrine.
