Miniature Golf

Yesterday, Philippe & I went miniature golfing for the 1st time together.
Along with our friends, John & Inez.

The weather was great...the company even better!
A wonderful time was had by all.
Especially because I won. :-)

Philippe didn't do too bad himself, for his 1st time.
He tied w/ Inez for 3rd. :-)

Camp at Old Mill

Since we decided to extend our stay in the US for at least another month,
we're chompin' at the bit to be involved in some type of
kids ministry while we're here
as that's our passion & what we love to do in Senegal.

Thankfully, we didn't have to look far!

For 3 days - July 18,19, & 20th -
the middle school & high school students from our home church,
Calvary Fellowship Church,
participated in the annual outreach camp focused on
ministering to children from Coatesville.

As soon as Philippe & I heard about the camp, we signed on
to help in any way that was needed...
which turned out to be helping man the zipline station.
Our job was to unhook the kids after they road the zipline down &
take the rope back up to the treehouse so the
next child could get hooked in for the ride.
It was a hot job (since it was close to 100 degrees outside these 3 days)
& there was definitely a learning curve,
but by day 3 we were pros at it.
Overall, we had a blast serving together &
watching the kids grin from ear to ear...
or scream bloody murder (which didn't happen often, thankfully!)...
as they road the zipline.

Every afternoon, once the children from Coatesville arrived,
all the kids & counselors started off the activities by worshiping the Lord together.
It's a pretty awesome thing to witness as you can see...

Blue Rocks

Philippe is definitely getting a real taste for America's favorite game,
BASEBALL

Below are some pictures from the Wilmington Blue Rocks game that
we recently went to with my parents & my brother and sister-in-law & the kids

Haha, not sure that we payed much attention to the actual game
cause we were having so much fun together,
but when the fireworks started, we were all enamored!

What a great night!

Go Phillies!

Yesterday afternoon, Philippe & I experienced a couple firsts
both individually & as a couple.

We went to the Phillies game...
w/ Nick Sr. & Nick Jr. Speliopoulos!

Now, I've been to a Phillies game before, but up until yesterday,
I'd never been to the new Phillies stadium
& Philippe had never been to a professional baseball game.
That was the 1st of our "firsts".

Here are some photos from throughout the game.

Even though they ended up losing to the Braves in the 10th inning,
we enjoyed the whole special experience, thanks to Nick & Elke Speliopoulos!
(although we missed your presence Elke)

It was literally such a treat because we sat in the Diamond Club section
- the 2nd "first" for us -
so our seats were 5 rows up from the field on the 1st base side,
between home plate & the Phillies dugout!

We were actually so close to the field, that when the cameraman paned the crowd
after the Phillies got a hit in the 8th inning, we actually made it on camera
& were on national TV!

How's that for a "first"?! :-)

The Log House

So we recently moved into a log house.
We'll be here for the entire month of July,
courtesy of the Wayland family who are out of town all month.

It's such a unique experience.
I feel a little like Laura Ingalls-Wilder...
well, I guess it's really not quite the same since we still have access to all
the modern amenities, not to mention...indoor plumbing. :-)

Anyway, so far it's been a peaceful & quiet haven for us.
Which has been just what we've needed to enable us to get some
very much needed rest & relaxation.

Thank you so much, Sean & Nancy, for sharing your house with us!!!
